In the early days of Doctor Who, variety was a prerequisite and the companions were seemingly the exception to this rule. At least until the inclusion of Katarina. However an even more radical departure in Sara Kingdom, agent of the Space Security Service soon followed. She was certainly everything no companion before had been; Sara was cold, ruthless and she never screamed. In short she was a forerunner to both Leela and to a lesser extent Ace. She also complemented Steven better than either Vicki or Dodo and also worked well with The Doctor. It is a shame that she was killed within eight episodes, as she had untapped potential; but the danger of her character degenerating was always there if she stayed on.

GREATEST MOMENT:(For me anyway) it was admitting she had killed her brother Bret Vyon.
