Anyone who saw 30 Years In The TARDIS will have noted the generous amount of coverage to the Peter Cushing Dalek movies. So it comes as little surprise that Kevin Davies decided to make a documentary about them. The result of which is Dalekmania, a celebration of the two films which is aimed at the serious movie buff and the Doctor Who fan.

The video opens with two young children going to the cinema to watch (surprise, surprise) the two Dalek tales. A lot of the tape consists of interviews interspersed with appropiate widescreen clips and stills. In between the two children are also menaced by a Dalek Saucer and the like in a rather charming sequence.

Roberta Tovey offers fond memories of working with the cast and crew, as does Jill Curzon and stuntman Eddie Powell. The most interesting interviewees, however, must be Barrie Ingham and Yvonne Antrobus (Alydon and Dyoni from Dr Who And The Daleks), whose memories of wearing false eyelashes and recognition of Dalek merchandise at the time (a brief overview of which is included) are fascinating.

Add to this the trailers from both films: the French, American and Italian versions are included. Plus a potted history of the two films and the ongoing adventures of the Daleks in both amateur films made by fans, and in comic strip format and you have a recipe for success. Fans should also note a limited edition boxed set was also available to complement the films.
