Everyone loves a good multiple Doctor story. Except of course it can quickly become tiresome when it reverts to the same basic plot; the Doctors squabble but eventually team up to fight this week's big bad.

Under Pressure decides quite wisely therefore to eschew the obvious and play against type. Here the Fourth Doctor arrives in the middle of an adventure he's already been through in his third incarnation and must try to extricate himself from that situation without damaging the web of time. Of course, he's rather hampered by the fact that he remembers he was helped out at the time by a brilliant but mysterious stranger...

The threat is pretty basic: a colony of Sea Devils have awoken and decided to attack the humans who have usurped their rule of the planet. That's just window dressing as the Doctor gets to be smart two times over. If you thought Time Crash cheated, then you'll feel the same here, though it's less obviously done and still manages to cram in a few jokes as the Fourth Doctor keeps letting slip his foreknowledge of how everything will turn out.

The artwork by Vincent Danks is great at capturing very good images of Baker and Pertwee in close up, but it less well defined in the long shots. Still it gets the job done and the tale is short enough and charming enough to be one of the better multiple Doctor stories.
